Programme Overview:

This programme provides prospective teachers with knowledge of the subject areas required: literacy (home language and additional language(s), numeracy and life skills, as well as the required skills needed to integrate these across the FP schooling system. The programme emphasises hands- on classroom competencies and the creative design of teaching and learning media. This qualification promotes increased understanding of literacy and numeracy development, the instructional practices within classrooms, teacher preparation, and resources required for effective teacher education programmes in the languages of teaching and learning. There is a strong emphasis on the preparation of student teachers for multilingual classroom contexts. Students engage with relevant teaching methodologies, related theory and application during periods of school-based observation and practice across the four-year programme.

• Minimum NSC requirements for degree entry must be met. • English (Home Language or First Additional Language) AND Afrikaans or isiXhosa (Home Language or First Additional Language) • Mathematics – 45%, or Technical Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy - 60%.

A Biokineticist is an exercise specialist who increases a person’s physical condition and their quality of life by means of physical assessment and the prescription of healthy exercise habits. The Biokineticist is the newest member of the allied medical team who specialises in preventative medicine and final phase rehabilitation to improve the quality of life through movement.

The extended curriculum programme for Dip (Logistics) studies provides alternative university access to students who have the potential to succeed, but do not meet the minimum admission requirements for the mainstream programme. The purpose of the programme is to integrate additional academic support and skills development with mainstream courses in order to prepare the student for successful completion of the relevant Diploma.

This programme provides candidates who wish to qualify as Chartered Accountants (SA) with the opportunity of an additional major in Computer Science and Information Systems. After completing this degree, students may proceed to the Postgraduate Diploma in Accountancy, and then the professional examinations administered by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) and complete a three-year training contract, in order to qualify as a chartered accountant.
