Dip (Agricultural Management) Extended Curriculum

Programme Overview:

This programme consists of three years of applied theoretical and one year experiential training. It provides alternative university access to students who have the potential to succeed, but do not meet the minimum admission requirements for the mainstream programme. The purpose of the programme is to integrate additional academic support and skills development with mainstream courses in order to prepare the student for successful completion of the diploma in Agricultural Management.

Subjects requirements:

• Minimum NSC statutory requirements for diploma entry must be met. • Mathematics or Technical Mathematics – 35%, or Mathematical Literacy – 55%, and one of the following subjects: • Physical Sciences or Technical Science – 35%, or Life Sciences – 45%, or Agricultural Sciences – 50%. • Admission is subject to departmental selection.

Career opportunities:

The same as for three-year Diploma in a chosen field.

Full-time 3 years

The aim of this degree is to produce management professionals for the health and food service sector. Students will be taught to act as food service managers, who are well-grounded in business, financial and people management skills, but also able to solve specific health sector related problems within the food service industry. There is currently a shortage of such managers within the health services food sector and graduates will be able to ensure effective and efficient delivery of food services in the various health services institutions.

Full-time 1 year. Studies may also be completed over 2 academic years in consultation with the Head of Department.

The purpose of the qualification is to equip students with more advanced knowledge in the Construction Management discipline and the ability to apply that knowledge, skills and values to make a meaningful contribution to the economy and national development by ensuring optimal utilisation of resources.

Full-time 4 years

The aim of the programme is to equip students with the knowledge, skills and values needed to effectively mediate learning in the field of Senior Phase and Further Education and Training, specialising in specific school subjects. Students will be expected to choose two FET specialisations and one related SP specialisation within the stream below. NATURAL SCIENCE STREAM: FET: Life Sciences, Physical Sciences*, Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy SP: Mathematics, Natural Sciences *Please note that students choosing to study Physical Science MUST choose Mathematics as their second FET specialisation. To specialise in Mathematical Literacy applicants must have taken Mathematics at school.
